Emi Sano  graduated with a BFA degree in Film and Animation at Rochester Institute of Technology with an emphasis in scriptwriting. She was born into a Japanese-American family in a small town of New Hampshire and she uses her experiences in that small town a lot in her writing. Emi lives happily with her husband and dog, Winnie.


After Rain, Comes Fair Weather, placed semi-finalist in WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Screenplay Competition in 2018.

Emi worked on her first feature film as a script supervisor with the award-winning Water in a Broken Glass.

A Thornplaced as honorable mention and semi-finalist in Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition in 2014-15 and NH Film Festival Screenplay Competition in 2014.
